Weather Related Make-up Time
The District will need to make up time to meet the instructional minutes required by the Department of Public Instruction. Beginning Monday, April 23 there will be 10 minutes added to the beginning of the school day at the elementary schools.
Bus pickup and drop off times will not change. The instructional minutes will be added to the beginning of the school day due to existing transportation schedules.
Additionally, the District is eliminating the grade K-4 early release May 18. Students will now be expected to attend a full school day. If families have scheduled plans for that afternoon, they can call the school office and excuse their child.

- The doors will still open for breakfast participants at 8:20. The doors will open for all other students at 8:30am.

Blizzard Ticket Orders Due this Friday – Just a reminder that the ticket orders for the May 12th Blizzard Game are due this Friday, April 20th.

Howard Elementary annual “Spring Into Summer” celebration will take place Friday, June 1st. We are celebrating with outside Field Day events and a Picnic Lunch. Watch for detailed information and RSVP in an upcoming family folder.

Remember, all attendees helping with the Field Day AND attendees to the Picnic Lunch must have completed the volunteer application and background check if you plan on attending.

This year Howard Elementary will be hosting our own color run right here at school! Participants will be on a designated course according to their skill level and get doused in color zones! It is sure to be a blast. There is no time limit and your can run, jog or walk at your own pace. Bring the whole family as ALL ages are encouraged to participate! Costumes are welcomed and don't forget your sunglasses! The run takes place June 2nd at Howard Elementary. Please return donations by May 1st.

On April 3, 2018, the communities of Howard and Suamico approved the operational referendum, placed on the ballot by the Board of Education, by a 58.6% to 41.4% margin.
Thank you to residents who attended listening sessions, asked questions, and voted. Your engagement demonstrates our communities’ interest and dedication to our students, staff and schools.
The results represent a vote of confidence in the vision for the school district and will allow us to address critical needs, including reducing class size, enhancing teacher compensation, and maintaining facilities. We will continue to give regular updates on the referendum. If you have any questions for the Board of Education, please reach out to your school board member, Teresa Ford - [email protected]

April 28 - 7th Annual 2Myles4Autism Run/Walk, The 7th Annual 2myles4autism Run/Walk is Saturday, April 28 at Meadowbrook Elementary 9 a.m. This event is named after, Myles, a 9th grader at Bay Port with autism. The event was created to help raise awareness for autism and the message has morphed over the years to be about acceptance. Go to: http://2myles4autism.weebly.com to learn more and to register!
EVERY STEP COUNTS!! As most of you may of already guessed, the recent snow storm has forced us to reschedule the ‘Every Step Counts’ event. After careful consideration of the many other District events that needed to be rescheduled, we have decided on Saturday May 12th from 9-noon. Registration is back open until Friday May 4th! Please send an email to [email protected] with the participant names and t-shirt sizes (participants that have already registered please disregard).

2018 BAY PORT YOUTH TRACK CLUB OPEN TO BOYS & GIRLS IN GRADES 3 - 4 - 5 - 6
The program includes a T-shirt, free entry into Bay Port track meets, an introduction to and instruction in track and field events, and a ribbon for every child during our club meets. The NEW Donate Life Walk was cancelled due to weather conditions last weekend. Thank you to the entire NEW Donate Life Walk community and HSSD for your heartfelt messages about the work we do. That has inspired us to RESCHEDULE!! Please put SATURDAY, MAY 5th on your calendars. We know it is short notice, but we have all these AMAZING Silent Auction items that must be auctioned! Not to mention T-shirts to be distributed, stories to share, and awareness to raise.
We will be re-opening the walk registration (at the $15 rate) on Monday, April 16th to anyone who was originally unable to attend on 4/14/18 and now can! We are hoping for your continued support! Keep watching FB for further updates!
