FROM YOUR SCHOOL BOARD
Referendum Update The Board of Education unanimously approved a resolution on an operational referendum for the April 3, 2018 spring election ballot. This referendum differs from the April, 2017 referendum, in large part, because of the duration. The Board listened to the community through surveys and the Community Task Force Committee. The feedback was clear that the recurring nature of the April, 2017 referendum was not acceptable. The 5 year duration on the current referendum allows the district to address the immediate needs of class size, compensation, and facilities maintenance. As the Board works to address its financial challenges, we are committed to providing as much information as possible. For more information about the referendum, please visit www.hssd.k12.wi.us/referendum. If you have any questions for the Board of Education, please reach out to your board member listed in this article. |

Parents we need your help! When attending athletic events at Bay Port High School, we ask that you please supervise your children. For the safety of the participants and the fans, we ask that your children do NOT run around in the field house or hallways before, during or after the games. We greatly appreciate your assistance. Thank You!
The Bay Port STINGCANCER club presents its 8th annual Carnival for a Cure on Friday, February 9. Join us in the Bay Port commons/union from 5-7pm for carnival games, bounce house, mini golf, henna, face painting, Nerf war, raffle, bake sale, cotton candy, petting zoo and more. Then stay for more fun during the varsity basketball game at 7:00 when your Pirates take on the Preble Hornets. This year’s boys team is ranked 5th in the state!! Let’s cheer them on to another victory! Please click here for more information.
This year’s event is especially dear to our hearts because we are supporting one of our own. A Bay Port junior and STINGCANCER member named Delaney has been fighting Epithelioid Hemangioendothelioma (EHE), a rare form of vascular cancer since 2014. Due to the rarity of EHE, there is currently not a cure or even a set treatment, as well as little to no funding done for research. Most funds are raised directly by the families affected. Because of this, Delaney and her parents started a non-profit, The EHE Foundation, in 2015 to try to raise money for EHE research. Proceeds from this year’s event will go directly to that foundation to help Laney find a cure.
To help raise funds we have a very special shirt this year, made in the EHE awareness colors of red and yellow that GLOWS IN THE DARK! We have sizes youth small-3XL and I am now taking preorders. They will be available through the event, but sizes are only guaranteed for preorders. They are $15 each for most sizes (2XL is $17 and 3XL is $19). They even come with a coupon for a free cotton candy or game of mini golf at the carnival. It’s a win-win!! Please email Stacy Baynes at [email protected] if you would like to order a t-shirt.
You don’t want to miss this affordable family fun night that also helps a great cause! We want to make this one bigger than ever, so please spread the word and bring your friends and family.
We thank you for your continued support! Remember – together we can STINGCANCER!!!
